Planning Draft 1 (Nak kahwin)

Prelude: We have just confirmed our big day, which falls on 03 Jan 2016 (Sunday). It will be a one day event. (Solemnization & Reception) at CCK MPH. Since only my side having the reception, I need to survey the different vendors for the decoration etc. We were thinking of having combined wedding since my side do not have many guests

Things I must pay on my own:

  1. Decor
  2. Photography
  3. ccchuros station (yes! the live station making churros. Halal Ok! The new thing in the block. OH Yeah!)
  4. Putu Piring Station (I want!)
  5. Andaman (Bridal make up & Outfit)
  6. Wedding Gifts
  7. Groom's Ring
  8. Invitation Cards
  9. Henna Night
  10. Entertainment

Items Atas belas Ikhsan Mak Bapak saya:

  1. Catering (Which we will take from cousin's cousin's reception, since both my parents say their food are really nice, I leave everything to them to make the decision)
  2. Berkat (I hope they can sponsor too. Hehehehe. It's not going to be fancy. I have decided on Boiled Eggs. Cheap and memuaskan)

Decoration

Saf and I went to Halal Expo recently on 23 March 2014. Our purpose was to browse through at the decorations of different companies. In the end we only went and look at 1 of the companies there. The first guy really understood our purpose and show us the rest then he passed to another guy wh roughly touch on the package price, who then passed to his female colleague (I think Malaysian Chinese) to talk to us. We explicitly and drew our lines telling that we will not sign up any packages that day. We only wanted to see their decorations. Then she goes on  yada yada yada about the payment (You think we do not know what you are trying to do ah.). So much of our precious time wasted. She ruined our mood to hop to other vendors for our mission there.

Put aside.

There are some decorations that I fall in love with when browsing some strangers' facebook (but too shy to ask lah). So I have to survey myself. I like Jentayu Gallery, love the Wedding Chateau and Mariah & Sham.

Let me share my findings:

According to some reliable source, The Wedding Chateau will be cutting down on their activities especially in the decoration sector. So for my wedding in 2016, fat hope. Anyway they are also expensive  for my budget.
Their decoration alone starts from $6.5k. But, their quality of work and taste of styling are worth the money.

Then we went to Signature Bridal Service. Their deco alone is $5888. This includes chiavary chairs of different colours (you can choose) and drapes. Also they say if they have any other decorative objects in their warehouse, you can just say you want this you want that at no cost. (Entah betol ke tak). But looking back, I would rather have TWC. Their works are so luxurious. Another vendor I'm eyeing will be Mariah ans Sham. But I think their quotation will about the same as TWC.

Ccchurros (Churros live Station for event)

I chanced upon their services when I browsed through Norfasarie's instagram. You can check out the company at @ccchurros . They will fry the churros on the spot and serve with coat of sugar and chocolate sauce. Really yummy and interesting for wedding nowadays. With the current price, and future inflation, I estimated it will cost me about 1k - 1.2k for my wedding in 2016. (Jgnlah naik harga banyak sgt.Pls pls pls!)

Photography & Videography (2 in one)

Ok a list of companies that I will prolly take:

  • Avicenna studio (Having some promotion now[3k]. But not enough money for downpayment as for now)
  • Bliss Photo Cinema (Abt 3k plus)
  • D Shootz Studio (Having promotion at 2.5k)
  • Studiodua (??)

Andaman

Still finding the right one. I know that there are so many small boutiques have bridal services but I don't know.. yet on how to locate them and see their works.

But roughly below are my options:

- Hambali The Wedding Regalia
- Peti Solek Bridal

Wedding Gifts

I'm looking at 7 Gifts for the groom.
  • Shoes
  • Watch
  • Sunglass
  • Sejadah and AlQuran
  • Bag (LV - if can afford)
  • Pulut Kuning / Cupcakes
  • Shirt

Groom's Ring

For all I care, it must be platinum and has precious stone. Budget (2.8k)
My partner and I were in the town and we decided to went t the bvlgari store. They do not have B. Zero in Platinum but there is this nice platinum ring, their new signature. Price at 3k plus. Only platinum. No stones or what. Tak payah sua.

Oh Ma Gawd!!! So many things I need to pay! How to save and grow money fast in 1 year? Im still thinking how to put my money aside for my wedding. Cause now I am schooling part time and I pay my own school fees u know1 About 70 % of my bring home salary go to my school fee each month. Camne nak save ni!

Pretty pretty shoes for wedding (Kasut Kahwin)

(In bus 67 now, on the way to work):

I have not been paying attention to shoes to be donned on my wedding day. But the power of influences especially after you watched some wedding videos by some vendors on facebook, featuring the lavishly designed wedding heels struck upon me, "all the brides are wearing proper and expensive heels, what about me? It would be nice if the videographer or photographer can shoot and feature branded heels like Christian Louboutin etc"

Sooo, that moment makes me realised that I NEED a nice pair of heels for my wedding.

HOWEVER, looking at the circumstances I am in where I have to put away 70% of my salary for my school fees, some portion for my insurance and bills, I am left with small fractions left for my survival in this excruciatngly expensive society.
So conclusion is: I have to source for cheaper shoes.

Yesterday, my sayang and I went to pay our 5% downpayment for BTO and we had dinner around Toa Payoh. After dinner, we went to some shops: Venus; Pretty Pink; and Beauty Spring. All of the shops sell the samw things and they juxtapose one another (really cheap!).

We walked abit then we chanced upon a shoes' shop. It was having a moving out sale. That was where I saw a GORGEOUS golden peep toe heel covered with beautiful Golden lace. It was on sale for $24.95!!! And it is soooooooooooo PERFECT FOR sanding/nikah and even hari raya. NOT TOO LOUD BUT STILL OUTSTANDING. I knew that that is my shoes! At least for hari raya... (its rare for me to like a shoe on the first sight)

But disappointingly, they don't have my size.

Anyway.. below are some shoes that I have "screen shot" whike browsing internet. For your inspiration.

(Shoot im late for work again! Sooooo hungry now)

Engagement (Fairus Tunang)

Safuan and I are officially engaged on 04 Nov 2013! Alhamdulillah..

Let me share a bit about my engagement ceremony which was mostly impromptu!

Actually we did not want any engagement but since his mother said "hantar cincin jer" and no exchange of gifts and only 9 people from his side would attend, so apa lagi.. on jer lah..
My side too, did not want to make it a big ceremony. Only close families especially the eldest aunt/uncle from paternal and maternal side will attwnd. BUT... another dilemma striked us. We did not want later other relatives be like "why didn't you invite us?" It will only severe our ties. So my mother ended up inviting all my relatives from both my father and her side, excluding 1 family.. (long story)

Just to be clear that my engagement ceremony is still on a small scale! We very ala kadar. I did not engage ANY professional help!

(From my experience)
List of things for future Malay Ladies who are planning for her engagement ceremony:

1) DO NOT TRUST GUYS

If the guy says that they will just exchange 2 gifts.. make sure you prepare 4-6 gifts! Because his relatives will contribute 1-2 dulang without him or u knowing.

2) BUNGA RAMPAI

I always get confused if bunga rampai is necessarry for engagement ceremony. My fiance told me no bunga rampai. Then when his family arrived, they brought cups of bunga rampai. So.... ends up, my side no bunga rampai. We also did not think about it.

3) HEELS

Ladies.. you need to wear them while you are sitting and waiting for the ring to be worn on your finger!
Since Im the eldest child, most of my cousins dah beranak pinak.. i have no one to 'consult' about preparation. So in the end, i hid my bare feet all the time by lifting up my legs and hid behind my skirt.

4) SELENDANG

Must don selendang!
I never think it's a must, but it is! So lucky I have a good friend of mine who has her mum's one which suits my outfit and she lives next block to me.. pheeww

5) MAKE UP

Ni tak payah cakap eh. Get a professional help if you have limited make up or do not know  how to make up nicely.
For myself, im penny-less so I sought my friend to help me make up. Trust me she's too learning to make up well. But she has way more make up than me and i saw how she did her eyes before. V nice...

6) FLOWER BOUQUET

Optional. I did not have one :( he also did not give me on that day:(:(:( but it did not matter much to me (how i wish he gave me!)

7) HAIRDO

For those who do not plan to engage professional help in make up or hairdo, you can follow my example. I went to the nearby hair salon (sunshine place) and showed the hair stylist the googled image. I told hwr to wash and style. It costs me $35 only! Happy girl... cheap cheap...
Went there with my baju tunang tops and home pants and my self-applied foundation.. so asal boleh... but i dont mind :D

8) TUNANG OUTFIT

Lucky me. My mum sponsored me baju kurung. We bought it 1 month before from TKCC. Baju kurung biasa jer. Its Yellow.

Thats about it!

Setting Date

Hi Everyone, I set up this blog purely because I am as excited as any women out there about planning their weddings. Therefore I would like to share my experience, my journey and also to capture some important moments in my life to reminisce how I behave in the past. Ok so basically my partner, Safuan and I, have not decided any date yet for "kepak kebing kebing". Initially his family and him wanted mid 2016 because they want to have a combined wedding with her sister. But my mum and I are not really fond of combined wedding. On top of that, my mum and her sister had a combined wedding. Then her sister's marriage did not last. So I guess, she became superstitious. So I request to push it to early 2017, because I need to save money and go for some laser treatment if can ad also save money for other things. But since I am an impatient lady. I told him to push it to late Nov.. Then to late 2015. ^^. The thing is that he said his family will come to my house for mini and close engagement end of this year, 2013. So, I do not wish to wait long long until we tie the knot. I want things chop chop cause anything can happen within the waiting period. ANd of course, it will compromise with the wedding I envisioned. Therefore, I will try to keep my wedding as simple, affordable as possible and at the same time complete like any other wedding. So... stay tune for more updates down the road.
